Corrections

Page 49: Second sentence in third paragraph should be: Members of the Murchison family say the Del Mar endowment continues to make annual contributions to the Boys & Girls Clubs and Boy Scouts of America 55 years later.

Page 61: Last sentence in second paragraph should read: He knew a lot of powerful people.

Page 155: Name should be Jim Gatewood, not Jim Gates, so the paragraph says: “According to local historian Jim Gatewood, he was a regular visitor to Top O’ Hill and bet big on boxing matches there. Gatewood claimed that Campisi and some of his associates tried to fix some bouts. When they won, Gatewood wrote, Campisi hosted parties with “good food, booze, and broads.”

Page 341: Should read checkers instead of dominoes, so the sentence reads: “His granddaughter Lyda Hill beat him at checkers.”

Page 395: First sentence of first paragraph should begin: Though Clint Jr.’s record had been diminished, his descendants became known as good stewards of family interests and respected civic leaders. Page 376: Should say Margaret Gillin rather than Dorothy Gillin so that this sentence reads: “When they moved to Beverly Hills, Margaret Gillin drove Dallas visitors to see movie stars’ homes in her Rolls-Royce. “

Page 396: It should say son Ray Hunt, rather than grandson, so this sentence reads: “His grandson, Ray Hunt, created his own success in the oil business and became a respected city leader.”
